Motivational Series – Robert E Lee

It’s declared history is constructed through the victor — that as a direct consequence of conflict, the defeated are often portrayed like a collective, detestable mass that follows a likewise repulsive value system. Yet, though his Confederate Army what food was in the losing end of America’s Civil War, Robert E. Lee is remembered as among the most celebrated generals in American history.

Rational ideas of armed conflict presume that defeated soldiers should be denounced, not exalted; punished, not praised; and despised, not admired. However, Lee is entirely with the latter. What made one man, one soldier, stand out that he’s remembered by more Americans today than a lot of his victorious Union counterparts?

Unfortunately, this is the question that many volumes of books experienced trouble answering. And, I think that you have no desire (in this moment, at the very least) to see content of such depth and breadth (and i also admit that we couldn’t write it). Nonetheless, if I had to describe the reason behind Lee’s appeal in a single word, it might be “motivation.”

I’ll explore this theme while the next quote:

“There is scarcely whatever is proper that individuals cannot desire to accomplish by labor and perseverance. Nevertheless the first has to be earnest as well as the second unremitting.”
Robert E. Lee

Earnest Labor

Today’s culture is a by which immediacy is glorified — through the Round-the-clock news cycle; to tarts that “pop” before you pour a glass of milk; to magic weight loss suppliments — in a way that you can actually forget that anything worth accomplishing takes earnest labor, that i would define being a serious and purposeful exertion of body, mind and spirit.

When business owners discuss pouring their blood, sweat and tears to their companies, they refer simply to earnest labor.

When the craft of the famous musician or star athlete seems to look “easy,” it really is made so through earnest labor.

And, after i make an effort to achieve achieve of running a marathon, Let me agree to one principle: you got it right, earnest labor.

The ability to learn; the power to improve; along with the strategies which goals are accomplished; are controlled by your capability to strive, and achieve this earnestly — without reservations (or perhaps a fast solution).

Unremitting Perseverance

Lee fought an uphill battle for a lot of the Civil War. His outnumbered and poorly-supplied army shrank daily as a result of desertions by disheartened soldiers. Yet, notwithstanding this, he fought vigorously prior to the moment when defeat was imminent.

How frequently do we give up goals when things aren’t proceeding the same manner we had anticipated? Have you decide to stop smoking cigarettes, however learned you needed a tremendous project due at work, school, or elsewhere? Did you try building a habit of awakening earlier each morning, however slept over the following day and decided that it was a pointless exercise?

Lee comes with a answer of those, and also other, problems: unremitting perseverance, that we would define like a steady, unshakable persistence in sticking to a strategy, belief, or purpose.

While i train for and ultimately run the marathon, I am aware there might be a little voice around my head saying to prevent; that it hurts too much to look a step further. However, my unremitting perseverance in following a challenge — up to the finish line — will enable me to concentrate and then my footsteps against the pavement; the gentle breeze passing over my ears; along with the rhythm of my breathing — thus pushing that little voice in the depths of my subconscious.

Nevertheless, robert e lee timeline; 4,560,000 is a perfect example that harboring unremitting perseverance doesn’t ensure victory. After all, he was defeated in war. Yet, even in momentary failure, perseverance gives you the power to get back on your own metaphorical (or actual) horse and ride into battle (hopefully metaphorical) once again, pursuing your goals using the knowledge that could only be learned through setback.

It is stated that history is written by the victor; and, in Lee’s case, it is. In capturing the hearts of Americans, both through his military actions, his personal value system, with his fantastic sincere words of wisdom, Robert E. Lee is clearly victorious.
