A Traveler’s Self-help guide to Zante or Zakynthos – How to Visit the Best Ionian Island in Greece

Based in the Ionian Sea, Zante is a part of Greece and a popular holiday destination for folks from all around the world.


Commonly known as by the name “Zakynthos”, this tropical isle shares its name with all the son of Dardanus, a legendary Arcadian chief. Individuals visiting this Mediterranean paradise have the choice of spending their holidays in Zakynthos villas, with alternatives to suit any need and budget.

An observation deck about the ridge offers views with the shipwreck, that the beach was named after. It is a popular place for BASE jumpers using a major event for professionals held each August.

Hikers can visit the mountain village of Keri towards the south and enjoy a visit to the lighthouse along with panoramic views with the southern Ionian Sea. Natural arches along with other unique rock formations line the western shore between “Skinari” and “Keri”. The Venetian castle perched atop “Bochali Hill” is where to attend survey the city from a bird’s-eye view.
