On the unwary onlooker, the drummers are causing a cacophony of sounds, but for the trained ears of the drummers; a lively, heated argument or conversation similar to cell phone chat of today is being conducted.

In jest, drummers have already been seen to question the sweetness and womanliness of the other community and strength of the company’s male folk. The drum was a fundamental element of the communal life. The drum marked calendar of festivals in the communities. It recorded deaths, births.

Today, Nigeria News is transmitted mainly with the radio, newspaper and electronic version. First, Nigeria news was transmitted over the newspapers, state owned radio and then government owned TV stations. During these periods, the government had monopoly of dissemination of information to Nigerians. Soon enough, private owned newspapers, television and radio stations came aboard to challenge government entities owned corporations.
