How You Can Select A Course in College
More often than not, students who cross from 12th standard to varsity usually make their course choice based on any one of the following points:
1. Themselves (parents, siblings, relatives) “guide” them to take up a particular course as it’s probably the most “in-demand” course and one can a get “well-paying” job at the conclusion of that exact course.
2. They select a particular course determined by what “interests” them.
3. They use up that course they will feel “looks interesting”.
4. They undertake that course which their friends are getting into.
5. They take admission because course for which they may be meeting the eligibility criteria, “any course” that they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
6. They opt for a college they need to get into, and then take admission in any course which is why these are eligible from the college of these choice.
This is the sad scenario to which school students make their career choice. Not enough clarity, no proper guidance, pressure from family and friends, with an urgency some thing, anything – pretty much everything prompts the kid to make hasty and wrong career decisions. As a result, almost all of the students find yourself slogging within their course, barely in the institution years, and finally, they wind up making hasty and incorrect decisions about choosing their jobs and careers too. What happens and then is something many of us understand – misery and unhappiness at the job the first is doing, dissatisfaction from everything, can not be successful despite making sincere efforts and hard… along with the saga proceeds perpetually!
The foundation reason for this misery in one’s career could be the hasty and incorrect course decision taken during college admission time. Only when each student will give in a few careful consideration in selecting the “right” course, the difficulties at a later date could be reduced drastically.
How can and should each student opt for a particular course? The easiest and finest choice for that is to be aware what ones’ aptitude, personality and interests are. These replace ones inherent strengths and ones talent. If someone knows their inherent strengths and talent, coupled with an obvious idea of one’s interests, then a person should be able to create a better informed decision regarding their course. Also, considering that the person is going to be using an inherent flair towards that specific course, therefore, they are going to naturally manage to flourish in it. Consequently, they’re going to enjoy far more satisfaction and success in the field.
