Fabric Painting
Fabric painting can’t just be a genuine way to obtain fun but in addition an excellent chance to create something fantastic. Most fabrics are compatible with fabric painting, cotton fabrics perform most optimally. It’s also best to avoid really stretchy fabrics like Lycra. fabric paint works on these but will “crack” when stretched. Items for example t-shirts and cotton bags are some of the best to begin with.
Firstly you should find the item you would like to paint. Whilst not too important better quality items will give better results and after all if you’re expending time creating your specific piece you would like the finished item to become good.
You will find 3 options when painting fabric, fabric pens, fabric paints and 3D fabric pens.
Pens are simpler to use but generally is only able to supply on light coloured fabrics. Also, they are not necessarily ideal for filling areas. Fabric pens can be obtained individually or in sets. canvas markers and Pebeo both make good quality pens.
Paints, whilst a little harder to use, are ideal for block colour and if you ultimately choose opaque fabric paints these are generally ideal for both light and dark coloured fabrics.
3D fabric pens are harder to use but sometimes create some very nice textures and effects in your item.
Sometimes the best way is to use pens to stipulate and set detail on, then use the paints to complete after which further embellish using 3D pens.
When you have chosen an item to color and possess your paints or pens to hand, it’s time to start. In case your item is completely new I would suggest you wash it first. Convey a bit of card in between the material, eg inside a t-shirt or pencil-case so the colours usually do not tell you on the back and allow your imagination run wild.
When the paint has dried (apart from the 3D pens) most items requires ironing to correct to restore washable. Do that as recommended with the manufacturer (often a cool setting) relating to the reverse or which has a piece of fabric in between and that means you do not iron directly onto the fabric paint. When fixed items painted with fabric paint might be washed with a cool cycle wash (40c). It is usually better to turn them back to front first.
Fundamental essentials basics firstly now it really is up to you as well as your imagination to create your personal unique design. Make your own unique gifts for friends.
