When NEWS Is just too big Many details
You’ll find the classic Who, What, When, Where and Why on this comic thriller.
The cast of characters are settling looking their new situations. They are that nothing much must be happening to upset that world, yet, these are surprisingly wrong.
This tale of innuendo, gossip, lies, misdirection and intrigue comes across authentically as a comedy of errors and misinformation. The idea is easy enough and subtle enough to give a good base.
Ma Foster provides housing on her behalf “girls,” Bella, Chloe and Kitty. Typically the three in residence are missing. Ma makes a big deal about this. She even goes to the area newspaper when the local police usually do not respond to her fears. She does catch the attention of the out-of-work detective, the modern editor with the local newspaper and finally the city itself.
The central character is Henrietta, who had previously been named after the town in question, Henryetta, Oklahoma. Henrietta offers quite a bit looking for her nowadays, she’s got gone to live in the large city, OKC, OK and landed employment with all the local t.v. station. Although this will not strengthen your journalistic career, it will get her in the center of City voice and era of your day. The most common players for Henryetta are Wynona Sue, Henrietta’s hairdresser mother stars in a “reality” show, see later. Her husband, Professor LeHough, a local bug expert is bald from your surprise shaving. Rodney, Henrietta’s boyfriend, camera man buddy and overall best friend is pulled and tugged by Henrietta and her immediate boss Miss Peg. Harold Mixon, the master and editor emeritus with the local weekly newspaper, recently put online is looking to use a pleasant and quiet Labor Day weekend with his friends at the International Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.).
Another main characters are Gigi Carpenter, a feminist reporter turned editor with the local newspaper. Max (Maximo) Morgan a would-be gum shoe private investigator having a penchant for old murder mysteries, especially Dashiel Hammet’s “Fat Man” tales. Then Deano DeBoffo as the “reality” show director looking to shot an airplane pilot for any new show. Finally, Shatner Lapp, as a newsman, publisher, editor and all-round good old boy, involves town to aid in his Princeton buddy’s newspaper problems.
Once these folks become involved in the gossip laden townsfolk, the misinformation flies. With additional rumors then this facts probably warrant, the three missing girls become more and more objects of speculation and intrigue while hardly any factual facts are given. The rumors start off mild as the missing girls are only searched by Ma and Maximo.
These rumors and gossip finally lead up to a significant “reporter war” between Shat and Gigi. The misinformation here becomes the avalanche cascading in the news therefore the townspeople.
