When Jesus came and brought the gospel of Christianity it absolutely was welcomed from the masses as exceptionally great news. Thousands followed him to listen to the language of life which he spoke. After he was crucified, his disciples continued preaching and teaching his ways and they were likewise welcomed as the bringers of good news.
You know they don’t everyone was thrilled with this new teaching. The established religion during the day opposed it violently, even putting many to death for preaching the language of God. They whipped, beat, imprisoned and crucified a few who thought we would follow or teach the brand new gospel. And yet inspite of the suffering inflicted, they could not destroy this teaching or halt multiplication of this great news.
One of many charges laid contrary to the early teachers of the gospel was that they, “Turned the globe upside down” using this type of teaching (Acts 17:6). Truly, the modern teachings from the gospel of Christ were great news and tremendously powerful.
Many individuals need a lot of things, and not many would opt to suffer abuse, torture, ridicule or perhaps die rather than renounce their beliefs. But such was the enormity and power of this nice thing about it.
Consider also the condition of the apostles after that Jesus was put to death. We were holding subdued and meeting in Jerusalem, wondering how to handle it next after their Lord and teacher was obtained from them. Then again because they were gathered together right then and there of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit with the power of God discovered them, transforming them into powerful and charismatic preachers of the good news. Peter stood up among the people and at his preaching tomorrow, 3200 people looked to god upon hearing the good thing from the gospel (Acts 2:14-42).
Such will be the strength of the preaching of Christ that it cannot be merely called good news but it’s “Great News”. Never before or since has there been such a message as powerful because the gospel and truth of Christianity.
Why is this message so powerful? These days man is plagued with all of means of evil, both from the inside of and without.
