U.S. VETERAN Reaches Enthusiasm FOR COSMETOLOGY DURING MILITARY SERVICE
Every hairstylist remember the moment they became fascinated with hair along with the adoration for creativity who’s inspires. The story wasn’t any different for U.S. Marine Corps veteran Kristyl Rodrigues who discovered her desire for hair while enrolled at Bellus Academy’s school of cosmetology in Poway, California. There Kristyl was studying cosmetology and pursuing a professional beauty education. In her story, there’s a valuable message that can be shared. “It doesn’t matter in which you begin or how you begin. I would like to have the ability to spark that passion into people where we’re thus, making this industry 10 times better, we’re learning from our background we’re carrying on that legacy,” shared Kristyl. The Beginning: Inspiration Can Strike Anywhere
Kristyl joined the Marine Corps in 2014 and it was enlisted in the age of 19. Her first duty station what food was in Okinawa, Japan, accompanied by an area operation in Korea. Weekly during Kristyl’s time in Korea, a barber would check out the site and provides haircuts for the Marines. But, this happened: “I was in a tent doing my own hair,” shares Kristyl. “I would just do shape ups and line ups for me personally, nothing too crazy, once i had a Marine Sergeant approach me and ask me for any haircut. I had never cut anybody’s hair before on the other hand jumped strait into it and he found themselves loving it…and regarding his outreach and leadership, literally the following day, I had 13 Marines prearranged for me personally.”
This is actually the first moment that Kristyl considered barbering as a future career-she settled on charging $5 a haircut and that was it. With a strong intrinsic motivation and entrepreneurial spirit, she worked overnight shifts on guard duty from 12a.m. to 8a.m., then cut hair in the days. What Kristyl learned was profound: Hairdressers touch more hearts than heads every time you service complaintant, there’s impact.
The Impact of an Haircut
“As a Marine, the standards for appearance have reached an all-time high. The uniform has to be squared away and ironed. Everything has to be flush, measured properly-there’s lots of awareness of detail,” shares Kristyl. “I was investigating Marines from head to feet. It tore up my heart because we’re the best possible people of this nation and we must be travelling as a result. That’s in which the impact over the internet and heart came from, and i also wanted to be capable of transmit that through my hands to individuals around me…and ask them to walk around feeling proud and good from top, and representing this nation therefore.”

After coming back from service, Kristyl asked herself exactly what the next challenge and chapter in their own life will be.
