Garage Sale Saturdays…The Hunt Is On!

Saturday’s “To Do” list depends on Check out GARAGE SALES!
Planning my route the night before, testing my gps on my phone and circling the yard sale listings inside the paper really are a Friday night ritual.
The neighborhood My home is in can be a “Planned Community”. That means it is pre-planned and strategically organized. It can be split up into Sections and each section is presented by a letter. The “P” section consists of streets you start with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. free storage auction listings get the idea! Within the P section, there are lots of retirees and young professionals. The W section is the rich and ritzy part of town Then the B section is older but, more run down. The R section is set with young families with children. The S Section is south of town and regarded inside the boondocks even though the lots are larger and it feels more country. And lastly, the C Section is when the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats and more boaters live. Each section features its own characteristics and community. Despite the fact that we’re all the main larger town, these “sections” develop over town to draw a specific ambience. The region with many different children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” a part of town has no street lights and it is from the beaten track in the rest of town. But, the city in general has foibles and laws that we all try to abide.

We are allowed Two yard sales annually. We’re required to purchase a $5 permit for every of the sales and our signage is acquired and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It is not a conducive atmosphere for any Yard sale Business from your home!
Some people have ignored all of the rules, communicated with their neighbors regarding their needs and plans and also create a fairly good living putting on the yard sale event monthly! However, if they get caught disobeying the rules, they feign innocence on the rules and promise never to do it again! But, a few weeks later when everything has calmed back, there may suddenly be another yard sale! Most people locally could care less and life proceeds!
On the Wednesday before the Friday/Saturday Yard sale rush, a listing of all sales is released in our local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, time and date of sale plus a couple of “hook” things that will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour over the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave to the sales until around 11am since the majority of these sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, once I get on the sale, the folks are ready to sell the last of their stuff for just about any price you are offering them. Ever since i am NEVER seeking anything in particular… just real deals, I have been previously capable to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to stitch clothes for a third world nation! And i also purchased for around $5!!! I’ve a weekly budget of about $20 for yard sales in support of a few times have I ever learned about that amount!!!
So, just for this weekend, I will be plotting out about 10 sales in just a 10 mile array of my property. Let me leave at 11 am and stay back by 3pm and that i know….The rear seat of the car is going to be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
